  3. Redistributable Code is identified as all of the files in the following 
  4. directory on the DirectX 9.0 SDK CD/Download:

  9. the DirectX 9.0

  20. ROLAND SOUNDCANVAS SOUND SET FOR GENERAL MIDI AND GS FORMAT

  22. The Roland SoundCanvas Sound Set includes the necessary sounds to make a 
  23. complete General MIDI compatible sound set.  It also includes additional 
  24. sounds necessary to make a complete GS Format compatible sound set.

  26. WHAT IS THE GS FORMAT?
  27.  
  28. The GS Format is a standardized set of specifications for sound sources 
  29. that defines the manner in which multitimbral sound generating devices 
  30. will respond to MIDI messages.  The GS Format also complies with General 
  31. MIDI System Level 1.

  33. The GS Format also defines a number of other details over and above the 
  34. features of General MIDI.  These include unique specifications for sound 
  35. and functions available for tone editing, effects, and other specifications 
  36. concerning the manner in which sound sources will respond to MIDI messages.  
  37. Any device that is equipped with GS Format sound sources can faithfully 
  38. reproduce both General MIDI sound recordings and GS Format MIDI sound 
  39. recordings.

  58. and all copyrights pertaining thereto and has licensed the Sample Set for 
  59. use solely on Microsoft operating system products and Microsoft Application 
  60. Products.
